Barnoldswick
BARNOLDSWICK is a parish town situated in Lancashire, It lies 12.5 miles east of Clitheroe and 5 miles north of Colne.
The local population affectionately call their town “Barlick”, and it was formerly a part of Yorkshire. In 1974 it became a part of Pendle Borough in the county of Lancashire, a fact which has divided town opinion on the matter. A local urban myth says “Barnoldswick is a primary target in the event of nuclear war”. This myth came about because Rolls Royce has a jet engine plant situated in the town, during the cold war they were a major supplier of jet engines to many allied air forces.
